A resin set of figures in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker CMK. It contains a pair of figures - a pilot and a mechanic (a member of the ground crew) - that bring a model of the Avia S-199 fighter or a similar scene to life. It is not an aircraft kit but a set of add-on figures intended for Avia S-199 models in 1:72 scale. The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Avia S-199 was a postwar Czechoslovak fighter derived from the Bf 109 design, forced into being by improvisation with the engines that were available (hence the nickname Mezek, meaning mule). Among other things the machine went into history as the first fighter put into service by the newly formed Israeli Air Force. The pair of figures captures a typical moment beside an aircraft - the handover of the machine between the pilot and the ground technician, which fits a diorama of the late nineteen-forties well.
First wash the resin figures in lukewarm water with detergent and remove the small casting blocks; wear respiratory protection while sanding. Bond the parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). For painting skin and uniforms a primer works well, followed by layering of shades with shading and drybrushing, which in the small scale brings out the folds of the clothing and the face.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted as resin castings. Glue, paints and the aircraft model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
