1:72 B-17 Flying Fortress surface panels is a photo-etched set of surface panels from the Czech maker Eduard, intended for finishing the exterior of a model of this American bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
This photo-etched set from Eduard of Obrnice near Most is aimed at the exterior of the airframe of the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. It is fitted to an already built plastic model and replaces elements that are simplified on an injection-molded part for technical reasons, or only hinted at by an engraved line.
Thin photo-etched metal can do what a mold for plastic cannot. The thickness of the part corresponds to scaled-down sheet metal, the edges are sharp and the outlines of covers and doors stop merging with the surrounding surface. It is precisely on the large fuselage and wing of a four-engine bomber that such refinement shows, because the eye compares fine detail with a large smooth area right next to it.
Builders who want to take the Fortress beyond the contents of the box and who do not mind working with small metal parts. Basic experience of bending and gluing photo-etched parts is assumed, along with tweezers and good light. A beginner will manage it if they first try a few parts as a rehearsal and do not start with the smallest piece on the fret. A dark surface, on which shiny metal is finally visible, is a great help too.
