A set of cut masks for a model of the B-17G bomber in 1:72 scale. The masks are applied to the glazing before the paint is sprayed.
Responsibility details are not available.
The B-17G was an American four-engine heavy bomber of the Second World War and at the same time an aircraft with an exceptional number of glazed areas. The glazed nose, the gun turrets, the side windows and the tail mean long hours with tape and a scalpel when masking by hand. A set of masks in 1:72 scale shortens that work, because the individual parts are already cut to shape and all you do is transfer them to the model.
The masks belong on clean, degreased glazing before spraying. Release the part with the tip of a scalpel, move it with tweezers, place it on the glazing and press it down with a soft tool so that the edge sits along its whole length. Only then spray the paint, and do so in several light coats, because a heavy coat easily gets under the edge of the mask. Lift the mask as soon as the paint has flashed off; in a fully cured finish the edge tears and flakes.
Masks are cut for a particular kit, so after laying one on dry, check that the shape fits the part. Make up a small difference with a narrow strip of adhesive tape or with liquid mask. The glazing frame of a bomber is complex, so it pays to work one window at a time and not to hurry. Do not reuse masks once lifted; their tack is single-use.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
