The Consolidated B-24 Liberator is an American four-engine heavy bomber with radial engines, a slender high-set wing and twin vertical tail surfaces. The J version is one of the most widespread forms of the type. In 1:72 scale the model comes out large and yet a number of details get simplified on it, because plastic in such a thickness simply will not carry them.
A set of photo-etched metal parts from Eduard production aims at exactly those places. Metal a few tenths of a millimeter thick makes it possible to produce grilles, belts, buckles, panels and other thin shapes so that they do not look coarse on a model. The difference shows above all where an edge is meant to be sharp and thin, that is, on inner surfaces, covers and small equipment. Which B-24J kit the set is designed for and where each part belongs are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
In 1:72 scale the photo-etched parts really are small, so work with fine tweezers over a light surface and cut the sheet only at the moment you need to. Cut the bridges through with a sharp blade against a hard surface and make the bends along the etched grooves. Where photo-etch replaces a plastic shape, sand the plastic flat first. Apply super glue in a minute quantity with the tip of a wire, otherwise it will flood the fine relief. Before painting, degrease the metal and lay down a base color intended for metal.
The package contains a photo-etched sheet. The kit, paints, glue and decals are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
