Letoun vznikl u firmy Handley Page, která ale krátce po jeho zavedení zanikla. Výrobu převzala Scottish Aviation a po reorganizaci britského průmyslu pokračovala pod značkou British Aerospace.

Královské letectvo používalo cvičnou verzi pro přeškolení pilotů na vícemotorové stroje, námořnictvo pak vlastní verze k výcviku palubních pozorovatelů a navigátorů.

Nasazujte jej po kratších úsecích od přídě dozadu a po každém úseku zkontrolujte rovnoběžnost s okenní řadou. Oprava je možná jen dokud je blána vlhká.
