A photo-etched set from the Czech maker Brengun for models of the American Bell X-1 experimental rocket airplane in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but a set of fine metal parts that lifts the detail of a plastic model. The fret is cut for the Tamiya kit.
The Bell X-1 was a research rocket airplane in which, in 1947, Chuck Yeager became the first man to break the speed of sound in controlled flight. Its characteristic bullet-shaped fuselage was powered by a liquid-fuel rocket engine.
Photo-etched parts for refining the cockpit and the exterior items; typically details of the instrument panel, the seat belts and small exterior components such as the nose gear doors and the items around the engine nozzles.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a cutting mat, make the bends over a metal bender and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the interior and bring it out with a wash before closing the fuselage; the glossy orange finish of the real airplane shows to advantage on a smoothly sanded surface.
This is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
