A set of pre-cut masking templates for the cockpit glazing of a Bf 109G model in 1:72 scale. The templates are stuck onto the clear part before spraying and taken off once the paint has dried.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109G, known among modelers by the nickname Gustav, was the most numerously built version of the German fighter of the Second World War. It was powered by the Daimler-Benz DB 605 inverted V12 engine and went through a series of modifications during production, among them changes to the shape of the cockpit glazing.
The masking templates are cut into self-adhesive film and follow the cockpit framing of the model in 1:72 scale. You peel them off the backing sheet and lay them straight onto the clear part, so you do not have to outline the frames laboriously with tape and cut them with a scalpel on the finished part.
Stick the templates onto dry, degreased glazing before spraying. Press the edges down with the blunt tip of a toothpick so that paint cannot creep under them, and lay the paint on in thin layers. Once dry, lift the film with the tip of a scalpel at a shallow angle and draw it off sideways, so as not to scratch the clear part.
The set suits anyone who wants sharp, straight cockpit framing without slow masking with tape. You will appreciate it above all in a small scale, where the frames are thin and cutting tape by hand tends to be slow. The package contains the masking set only; the model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
