This Eduard set in 1:72 scale contains precisely die-cut self-adhesive painting masks for a plastic model of the German twin-engine night fighter Messerschmitt Bf 110G-4. It is not a kit and not an aircraft model in its own right but an aid for painting: the masks follow the framing of the glazed cockpit with its long canopy exactly, so you can spray sharp, straight frame lines without the long job of laying down adhesive tape. Circular masks for the wheel rims are usually included as well.
The Messerschmitt Bf 110 is a German twin-engine heavy fighter of the Second World War. The G-4 version is a dedicated night fighter fitted with airborne radar with its characteristic antennas on the nose and with heavier armament. In the second half of the war these machines were the main strength of the German night fighter defense against RAF raids.
Carefully lift the masks off the backing film with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel and press them onto the glazing so that they follow the shape of the frames. The clear areas stay covered and only the frame is left exposed. Spray the paint, ideally with an airbrush in thin coats, and take the masks off once it has dried. Wipe any adhesive residue away with a lightly dampened cloth.
The package contains only the die-cut masks. The model, paints and glue are not included unless stated otherwise.
