Blenheim Mk.IF — masking templates 1:72 (Eduard)

This is neither paint nor a kit, but a set of die-cut masking templates for a Bristol Blenheim Mk.IF model. The masks are made of thin self-adhesive kabuki tape (Japanese washi paper), which follows the shape of the cockpit frames and the other glazing exactly. You apply them before spraying, so the frames and the clear parts get a sharp, clean transition without laborious painting by hand.

What the masks are for

• masking the cockpit frames and the glazing during spraying
• usually masks for the wheel rims as well, to keep the tire clean
• sharp, straight paint edges with no bleed under the tape

How they are used

Lift the mask off the backing carefully (the tip of a knife or tweezers helps), seat it accurately on the part and press it down so that it clings well along the edges. Spray in thin coats and take the tape off while the paint is freshly dry, so that the edge does not flake.
