About product

Glazing masks for the Breguet Bre.693 and Bre.695 in 1:72 scale

A set of pre-cut masking templates from MH models for the glazed areas of a model of the French twin-engine Breguet Bre.693 attack aircraft and its Bre.695 variant. The glazing of this type is unusually busy: besides the pilot's canopy it also includes the glazing of the nose and the lower observation panels. Masking such an arrangement by hand is slow and the edges tend to be uneven. Pre-cut templates answer that by following the shape of the frames and simply being transferred onto the part.

The real subject

The Breguet Bre.693 was a French twin-engine attack aircraft intended for strikes on ground targets from low altitude, used at the end of the thirties and in 1940. The design grew out of an original heavy fighter project and put the emphasis on sturdy construction and respectable speed near the ground. The Bre.695 variant differs from the basic version in having the engines replaced with American radials, a step taken because of a shortage of the original powerplants. The difference in the engine nacelles is the most conspicuous external feature of the two versions.

The recommended spraying procedure

Clean the glazing and try the masks on dry. With busy glazing, work from the largest areas to the small segments, so that the smaller pieces do not get mixed up. Press the edges down carefully, because it is precisely at the transitions between the nose and the canopy glazing that paint creeps in most often. Spray thinly and rather more than once. Remove the masks shortly after the paint has flashed off, ideally by pulling them at a shallow angle.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of French aviation subjects from around 1940.
  • Modelers who want to avoid masking complicated glazing by hand.
  • Anyone interested in building the two engine variants side by side.

An accessory for building a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.

FAQ

The main external difference is the engine nacelles, because the Bre.695 variant was given different radial engines from the basic version.

The set is intended for the glazed areas of the model. We recommend comparing the exact extent with the parts of your own kit before building.

With busy glazing and short frames, cutting by hand is slow and the edges tend to be uneven. A pre-cut template holds the exact shape.
