An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet BT-7 Model 1935 fast tank in 1:72 scale from Flyhawk. This is the Collector's Edition, to which the manufacturer adds a photo-etched fret for fine detail. Flyhawk is known for small, precisely shaped parts and a high level of detail, so the kit will be appreciated rather by more experienced modelers.
The BT-7 belonged to the family of Soviet fast tanks of the 1930s (in Russian bystrokhodny tank, meaning fast tank), which were based on the Christie suspension. Their characteristic features were high mobility and the ability to run either on tracks or, with the tracks removed, directly on the road wheels. The Model 1935 version carried a cylindrical turret with a 45mm gun and a coaxial machine gun. The BT tanks formed the backbone of the Soviet mechanized forces before the Second World War and were committed, among other places, in the Far East and in the opening fighting of 1941.
Separate the small parts from the sprues carefully with a sharp knife, glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and the photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Finish the running gear and the lower areas before closing up the hull. Apply a primer before painting, spray with an airbrush in thin coats and finally bring the model to life with a wash and pigments for mud and dust effects.
