Photo-etched detail set for a model of the Buccaneer S.2C in 1:72 scale. Thin metal parts replace plastic shapes that cannot be made fine enough in a mold.
Responsibility details are not available.
Photo-etching is a thin metal sheet in which the outlines of the parts are etched chemically. Its thickness is the main strength: belts, buckles, grilles or instrument panels come out in 1:72 scale almost at the edge of visibility, which simply cannot be done in plastic. The set is listed for a model of the Buccaneer S.2C and completes a kit, which it does not replace.
The Buccaneer is a British two-seat carrier strike aircraft designed for penetration at low altitude over the sea. Its fuselage is robust and smooth, the wing folds for the hangars of aircraft carriers, and the tail carries a split airbrake. The S.2 version served with the Royal Navy and later passed to land-based units as well.
Thin tabs hold the parts in the fret. Cut through them with a sharp blade on a hard surface and do not break them out, or they will twist. Make the folds over a steel ruler or in a bending tool, always along the marked groove. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied in a minute amount, and on larger areas a two-part glue serves well, as it gives you time to seat the part. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and go over it with a base coat, otherwise the paint will not hold.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The extent of the set and the assembly sequence are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
