An injection-molded plastic kit of the heavy C4P artillery tractor in 1:72 from the Polish manufacturer First to Fight. The firm specializes in equipment of the Polish army of the late 1930s and its models are undemanding to build, so they are well within reach of less experienced modelers and suit the building of larger groups of vehicles. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The C4P was a Polish half-track tractor intended for towing heavy artillery pieces and their crews. It came from the family of half-track vehicles developed in Poland in the 1930s and built by the PZInz and Ursus works; against the lighter variants it had a stronger engine and greater tractive effort. The combination of a wheeled front end and a tracked running gear allowed movement in terrain where a purely wheeled tractor would have bogged down. The vehicle was used in the second half of the 1930s and was among the most capable means of its kind that the Polish army had available.
Cut the parts off with nippers and sand the remains of the gates down so that they butt together cleanly. Glue with thin cement for plastic applied with a brush into the seam, as it draws itself in by capillary action and leaves no fingerprints. Assemble and paint the running gear and the tracks before you fit the hull, otherwise you will no longer be able to reach them. Apply a primer before painting. Small vehicles in 1:72 gain a great deal from weathering: a dark wash into the recesses picks out the rivets and the grilles, and dust and mud pigments on the lower parts and the tracks give the model scale and weight. Finally even the surface out with a matte varnish.
