The Xtradecal 1:72 Vought A-7B and A-7E Corsair II in color schemes, the second part decal sheet widens the range of markings for models of the American carrier attack aircraft. It is an accessory for a finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The second part of a decal series from the British brand Xtradecal in 1:72 scale for the Vought A-7 Corsair II carrier attack aircraft in the A-7B and A-7E versions. The content differs from the first part, so the two sheets can be used alongside one another or separately. The package holds decals only; a kit, paints and varnishes are not part of it. The particular machines are stated on the box of the sheet.
The Corsair II was designed as a stable carrier of armament for attacks on ground targets, in which range and load were given preference over top speed. The subsonic concept allowed it to carry a heavy load from a relatively short deck. The A-7E version was among the most widespread and stayed in service long after the older subtypes had disappeared from the lines. The type passed through a period of markedly colorful markings and a later time of restrained gray camouflage.
The most common fault on a finished model is silvering, a milky sheen under the film of the decal. It arises when air is left between the decal and the surface, which happens on a matte or rough varnish. The answer is a proper gloss base laid on in thin coats and sufficiently cured. If silvering does occur even so, it can often be saved by pricking the film at the affected place several times with the point of a scalpel and dropping softener on it, so that the air escapes and the adhesive settles.
The package contains decals only. The kit, paints, varnishes and softeners are not part of it.
