F-106 A and B Delta Dart 1:72 - bay masking, Trumpeter covers the landing gear bays of both the single-seat and the two-seat version.
Responsibility details are not available.
The item comes in useful when the airframe is sanded and you are preparing the first coat of color. It covers the landing gear bays so that the inner shade stays separated from the external coat. According to the name it matches the Trumpeter kit and covers both the single-seat and the two-seat version, while plastic from other brands needs a differently cut set.
The letter A marks the single-seat combat variant, the letter B the version with two seats in tandem. Unlike many trainers of other types, the two-seat Delta Dart kept full combat capability including the radar and the weapons bay, so besides training it could also fly ordinary alert duties. The longer cockpit called for a change to the upper fuselage, while the wing, the engine section and the landing gear stayed unchanged. That is exactly why one set can cover both versions without any difference in dimensions. Two-seat machines also served with the squadrons longer, and some of them were used for check flights.
Once the coat is finished, uncover the bays carefully from the edge with a sharp tip so that you do not scratch the fresh surface. If paint has seeped through somewhere after all, fix it with a fine brush right away, while you can still mix the shade exactly from what is left in the cup.
