A plastic kit of the British Crusader Mk.III cruiser tank in 1:72 scale from the Polish maker IBG Models. A modern kit in a popular small scale, it lets you build the characteristic low tank of the North African campaign, which looks good on its own as well as in a desert diorama.
The Crusader was a British cruiser tank - a fast type meant for breakthroughs and pursuit. In North Africa it formed the backbone of the British armored units; it stood out for its speed and low silhouette, but was held to be mechanically delicate and lightly armored. The Mk.III version received the more powerful six-pounder 57 mm gun in place of the original two-pounder, which finally matched its firepower to the enemy. It first went into action in the Second Battle of El Alamein in the autumn of 1942; after the African campaign ended, Crusaders went on serving as anti-aircraft tanks and artillery tractors.
In this small scale, give care to the running gear - glue and align the track links and the road wheels on a flat surface. Desert machines suit a sand camouflage with pronounced dust: light filters, dust pigments on the running gear and fine chipping on the edges give a small model surprising depth.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
