A masking set in 1:72 scale for a model of the Dornier Do 17Z bomber. The shaped masks cut down the job of covering the intricate glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Dornier Do 17Z is a German twin-engine bomber from the beginning of the Second World War. Compared with the earlier versions, the Z version received a roomier glazed nose that held the whole crew together, and radial engines. Its slim fuselage earned the type the nickname the flying pencil. For a modeler that means one thing above all: extensive glazing with a great many thin dividers, which takes longer to mask by hand than the whole of the rest of the paintwork.
A set of shaped masks for the Do 17Z model in 1:72 scale. The masks are cut to the shape of the individual glazed panels, so there is no cutting tape into small pieces and the frames come out the same width throughout. The extent of the set, that is, whether it covers the wheels or other areas as well as the glazing, is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Wash and degrease the glazing first, then apply the masks and press the edges down with a toothpick so that paint cannot bleed underneath. They go on before spraying, not after. Apply the paint in thin coats, preferably in two passes on intricate frames. Once it is dry, lift the mask with the tip of a scalpel and pull it off at an angle. On glazing of this extent it pays to leave the removal until after the clear coat, so that the frame edges stay sharp.
The model of the aircraft, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
