The national insignia masks 1:72 E14Y Glen Nat. Ins. from Dead Design are for a model of the Japanese floatplane reconnaissance machine carried by a submarine.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set of the Dead Design brand for spraying the Japanese national insignia onto a model of the Yokosuka E14Y in 1:72 scale. The goods are a masking aid for painting, and the model of the floatplane is sold separately.
The E14Y was a small two-seat floatplane reconnaissance machine that could be dismantled into a cylindrical hangar on board the large Japanese submarines. After surfacing the crew assembled it, launched it with a catapult and on its return landed on the water beside the boat. It went down in history as the only aircraft to drop bombs on the territory of the continental United States during the Second World War, when in September 1942 it set forests in Oregon alight. The Allies gave it the code name Glen.
A small floatplane in 1:72 scale offers only limited areas, so every inaccuracy shows. Hold the model by the floats or by an auxiliary block while spraying, not by the fuselage: a fingerprint in fresh paint can no longer be removed cleanly from a part that small. Lay the insignia on only once the whole airframe is assembled and the camouflage finish has dried out, otherwise the edge will be damaged during further handling.
