1:72 Eurofighter Typhoon 60 Years Luftwaffe TLG 74

Neuburg keeps watch over the south of Germany

Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 74 has its home base at Neuburg an der Donau in Bavaria and is one of the units that maintain continuous readiness for the protection of the airspace. When the postwar Luftwaffe celebrated six decades of existence, one of the local Eurofighters was given a striking special coat and toured the air shows with it.

What can be built with the sheet

The motifs are laid out for the surfaces of the fin, the sides of the fuselage and the small places around the cockpit. Besides the anniversary artwork itself there are also the ordinary badges of the unit and the numbering, so both the festive machine and its less conspicuous colleagues from the same base can be built.

The print and its properties

The carrier film is thin and transparent, which is crucial with large colored areas: the edge then barely shows on the model. The price for that is greater fragility, so never press an element with a brush but move it with a moistened wooden skewer sharpened to a flat, or with a soft brush laid flat.

Storing the sheet

Decals age mainly through the effect of light and moisture. While a set is waiting its turn, leave it in the original packaging and out of reach of the sun. Yellowed film can be partly bleached by long exposure, but with colored anniversary motifs a shift of shade is a risk, so prevention is surer than a later rescue.

Before you start

Have the shades of German gray ready in advance and let the varnish cure properly. Fresh paint behaves unpredictably under water and a decal softener, and a mark left by an unsuccessful shift can no longer be removed from it. The plastic parts of the kit themselves are not included in the package.
