Stencils for the insignia and lettering of the 1:72 F-102 Delta Dagger let the national markings be laid on by spraying instead of decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is prepared for spraying the American markings onto a model of the interceptor with a triangular wing. An insignia laid on in paint holds in the plane of the surface and needs no treatment of its edge. Choose covering shades; with light colors on a dark base a white undercoat is in order.
In the 1950s the machines of the air defense wore unpainted metal supplemented with the colorful bands of their squadrons; the later years brought a gray finish and, over Southeast Asia, multicolored camouflage as well. A model can therefore look very different depending on which period you choose, and the coloring of the insignia changes with it too. Unpainted metal moreover reflects its surroundings, so even identical markings look different in every photograph.
It pays to start on the areas where the insignia is largest; there a mistake is noticed soonest. Before laying the paint on, degrease the area and check whether the edge is seated everywhere. Lay on thin coats and let them air out every time, otherwise dense paint is pushed out to the sides. At the end, unify the surface with a clear coat according to the gloss of the rest of the finish. Let the finished insignia cure overnight and only then start on the wear.
