1:72 F-106A Delta Dart Canopy Mask is a masking set for the cockpit glazing of the American interceptor, cut out for the seventy-second scale Trumpeter kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Self-adhesive stencils for the cockpit glazing of the Convair F-106A Delta Dart fighter. The shapes follow the framing of the canopy, so the finish stops exactly at the edge of a frame and the glazing stays clean. The set is cut for the Trumpeter kit.
The Delta Dart came about by reworking the F-102 type and entered the service of the Air Defense Command at the end of the 1950s. A single jet engine with an afterburner powered it, the fuselage was shaped according to the area rule and the armament went into an internal weapons bay. The onboard fire-control system worked with the ground guidance network, so the pilot received data about the target before takeoff. It stayed in the inventory into the 1980s and part of the airframes finished their service as target drones.
It suits modelers who want sharp and even cockpit frames but do not enjoy cutting tape by hand. It speeds the work up as well where the glazing is small and preparation by hand would take more time than the spraying itself.
