1:72 F-14B Bombcat is a set of self-adhesive masking templates from Art Scale for a model in 1:72 scale, intended for masking from the outer side.

This is not a kit or a photo-etched set but a set of masks. The self-adhesive film is cut in advance to the shape of the cockpit canopy frames and of the other areas that are covered while spraying. The work is simple: peel the template off, stick it onto the clear part, spray the framing and lift the mask off once the paint has dried. It does away with the hand cutting of tape with a knife on glazing, where in a small scale a straight line can hardly be kept.
The version for the outer side. The name describes the set as outer, so it allows for masking from outside. You can protect the inside of the cockpit while spraying with modeling putty or a piece of foam. Anyone who wants the frames treated from inside as well should look for the double-sided version, which the manufacturer lists separately.
The F-14B was a version of the twin-engine carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing, powered by a more modern engine than the original machines. It later gained the ability to be used against ground targets, which is where the unofficial nickname Bombcat comes from. The cockpit is two-seat and long, with prominent framing that forms one of the most closely watched lines on the model.
Wash and degrease the glazing first. Carry the templates with tweezers and press the edges down with a toothpick so that paint does not run under. Spray in thin coats and take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, with a pull along the surface. If you put gloss varnish under the paint, count on every further layer increasing the risk of the edge tearing when the mask is lifted.
The set contains masking templates only, not the aircraft model, paints or glue, unless stated otherwise.
