This Eduard set in 1:72 scale contains precisely die-cut self-adhesive painting masks for a plastic model of the American single-seat Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II multirole aircraft. It is neither a kit nor an airplane model in its own right, but an aid for painting: the masks follow the framing of the canopy and the other glazing exactly, so that you can spray crisp, straight lines on the frames without the tedium of building up adhesive tape.
The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is an American single-seat single-engined fifth-generation multirole aircraft with features of reduced radar visibility (stealth). The F-35A version is the basic land-based variant with conventional takeoff and landing, intended for air forces. It carries its armament and sensors in internal bays in order to keep its low observability, and it ranks among the most modern combat aircraft of the present day.
Lift the masks carefully off the backing film with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel and press them onto the glazing so that they follow the shape of the frames. The transparent areas stay covered and only the frame is left exposed. Spray the paint, ideally with an airbrush in thin coats, and lift the masks off once it has dried. Wipe away any adhesive residue with a lightly dampened cloth.
The package contains die-cut masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
