About product

F-35A Lightning II RAM coating late, painting masks 1:72 (Eduard)

This set from Eduard contains precisely cut self-adhesive masks of thin kabuki (washi) paper. They serve for masking and then spraying the panels of radar absorbent material (RAM), which on the real aircraft show up as darker outlines around the covers and the seams. The masks match the late production configuration of the aircraft.

What the masks are for

The accurate edges of the masks make it possible to create sharply bounded areas of RAM coating with an airbrush, which are characteristic of fifth-generation fighters. Without masks these fine transitions are hard to spray. The set saves time compared with cutting tape by hand and gives a repeatably clean result.

Usage tips

  • Apply the masks to a perfectly clean, degreased surface over the base color.
  • Press the edges down carefully so that paint does not creep under the mask.
  • Spray thin coats and remove the mask while the paint is still fresh.

Who the masks are for

  • Builders of modern jet aircraft
  • Modelers who want to reproduce the RAM panels faithfully
  • Airbrush users looking for clean spray edges

These are painting masks, an accessory, not a model. The paints and the model are not included in the package.
