A set of photo-etched parts in 1:72 scale for detailing a model of the F-4B or F-4N Phantom II carrier aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-4B and F-4N are carrier versions of the two-seat F-4 Phantom II, which served with the US Navy and the Marine Corps. The F-4N version came about by modernizing earlier-built F-4B machines, so both keep the same basic airframe shape and differ mainly in equipment.
Photo-etched parts in 1:72 scale intended for a model of the Phantom in the F-4B or F-4N version. Photo-etched sheet is an order of magnitude thinner than plastic and holds fine shapes that cannot be molded into an injected part, so it replaces simplified items of the kit. A list of the parts and their placement is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface; do not tear them off the fret, or they will bend. Sand the remains of the tab after separating. Make the folds in a bending tool or between two blades, always in one stroke and on a sharp edge. They are bonded with super glue or a two-part adhesive; cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Degrease the sheet before painting and apply a base coat intended for metal, otherwise the paint comes off while the model is handled.
For the modeler who wants to take a Phantom model beyond the level of the kit and does not mind fine work. Besides tweezers and a sharp blade, a magnifier or good light comes in handy; in 1:72 scale some of the parts are really small and easily lost.
The package holds photo-etched parts only. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
