Quinta Studio 1:72 F-4D Phantom - 3D-printed color interior decals. A cockpit in relief and painted in advance, for the American two-seat fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is an accessory for the cockpit, not a kit of an aircraft. Quinta Studio prints the motifs of the instrument panels, the side consoles and other details of the cockpit in relief and straight in color; onto the plastic parts they are applied as a wet decal. The Phantom has two separate cockpits with different equipment, and in 1:72 scale painting them in by hand is practically beyond even an experienced modeler, which is exactly why a set of this kind is worth it here.
What the set brings
The interior of the Phantom is typically a weak point in models: the plastic panels have the relief only suggested and the instruments get painted half by guesswork. A color 3D decal gives the panels depth and legible instruments, and the model is then ready even for a build with the canopy slid back.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II was a twin-engine two-seat fighter and strike aircraft, one of the most widespread combat types of the Cold War. The F-4D version arose for the US Air Force as a development step from the F-4C: it received modified avionics better suited to attacks on ground targets. The F-4D made a marked mark on the fighting over Vietnam and later served with the Air National Guard as well. The cockpits of the individual Phantom versions differed, so the sets are not freely interchangeable between versions.
Paint the cockpit in a dark base and coat it with gloss clear coat: the motifs have no adhesive layer of their own, they are held precisely by the gloss, and on a smooth surface they do not silver either. Cut the motifs out one at a time, soak them for about fifteen seconds and slide them off the backing paper, carry them with fine tweezers and move them with a soft brush. Draw the excess water off with the corner of a paper towel; on shaped areas a drop of cyanoacrylate helps. Do not use a decal softener: its chemistry attacks the printed resin and ruins the motif. Once it has dried, unify the surface with matte varnish.
