A photo-etched set for a model of the F-4J carrier fighter in 1:72 scale. The metal parts replace the simplified plastic detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-4J is the carrier form of the two-seat Phantom II fighter, which served with the US Navy and the US Marine Corps. Compared with the earlier versions it was given updated avionics and changes that improved the handling of the machine on approach to a carrier deck. A Phantom is recognized at a glance: wingtips angled upward, anhedral horizontal stabilizers and a massive radar nose. The crew is a pilot and a systems operator in the rear seat.
An etched fret is a thin metal sheet with the relief etched into it. The parts are separated from it, shaped and glued to the model. Metal keeps its shape even at a thickness injection-molded plastic cannot reach, so photo-etch pays off wherever a plastic part is necessarily bulkier than the real thing: on seat belts, grab handles, consoles, grilles and finely divided panels. The scope of this set and the order of assembly are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The aircraft kit, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
