Eduard photo-etched set for the model of the F-4J carrier-borne fighter in 1:72 scale. The metal parts bring detail that cannot be done in plastic in a small scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-4J is one of the versions of the Phantom II, the two-seat carrier-borne fighter that belongs among the best-known Western machines of the Cold War. The J version served with the US Navy and the Marine Corps and differed from its predecessors in its equipment. A Phantom model is a rewarding subject: it has a striking shape, plenty of external stores and a cockpit for two men, which is clearly on show under an open canopy.
The package contains photo-etched metal parts in 1:72 scale and the manufacturer's instructions. In a small scale photo-etch makes exceptional sense: what is thin sheet on the real aircraft is always exaggeratedly thick when molded in plastic, whereas a photo-etched part has a thickness comparable to paper. The difference shows above all on panels, grilles, handles and everything meant to have a crisp edge.
Count on the parts in this scale being very small. Separate them from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, level the remains of the tab with a fine-toothed file and work over a tray so that a lost part can be found. Make the folds over a sharp edge or in a bender. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, which you transfer on the tip of a piece of wire so that the drop does not flood the surroundings. Wash and degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a primer meant for metal; only then comes the paint.
The aircraft kit, paints, primer and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
