1:72 F-89 D/J Scorpion - a masking sheet for the landing gear bays gives a clean transition of shades inside and outside the airframe. The sheet is cut for the Revell and Hasegawa kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
A painting aid that covers the landing gear bays of the F-89 Scorpion interceptor in the D and J versions. It is useful wherever the inside of the landing gear is to get a different shade from the surrounding skin and the boundary is to look like a precisely drawn line. The shapes of the masks match the landing gear bays of the Revell and Hasegawa kits.
The Scorpion served with the Air Defense Command of the United States as a machine able to intervene by day and by night and in bad weather. The seats of the pilot and the weapons system operator lay on one axis, which gave the aircraft an elongated nose. The best-known chapter of its career remains the J version, modified to carry an unguided rocket with a nuclear warhead, the only type that ever actually fired such a weapon in a live test. The last examples ended their service with Air National Guard units.
Light shades inside the bays hold better on a surface that you have evened out with a primer beforehand. Spray rather at lower pressure and from the edge toward the center, so that the paint is not forced under the edge of the mask. Once it has dried, lift the pieces with tweezers pulled at an angle rather than straight up, and the coat will not tear away.
