A set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:72 scale for a model of the F-8E carrier-based fighter. It adds elements in a realistic thickness to the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-8E was an American carrier-based fighter with a high-mounted wing. Its best-known feature is that wing: for takeoff and landing it could be tilted upward, so the aircraft could fly at a high wing angle of attack and still keep the forward view from the cockpit. In its day it was one of the mainstays of carrier aviation, and the design keeps it a rewarding subject to this day.
This is a fret of photo-etched metal parts in 1:72 scale. Photo-etching allows elements in a thickness no plastic part reaches: flat details, grilles, straps, covers and parts with a sharp edge. The parts list, their placement on the model and the kit the set is designed around are given in the enclosed instructions.
In 1:72 scale the photo-etched parts really are tiny, so work over a mat and with fine-jawed tweezers. Separate the parts with a sharp blade against a hard surface and make the bends over the edge of a steel ruler or in a photo-etch bending tool. Bond them with super glue or epoxy; polystyrene cement will not join metal. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal and apply a thin coat of primer, otherwise the shade rubs off during further work.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
