1:72 F4U-1A / F4U-1D Corsair EXPERT Kabuki Masks is a full masking set for two related versions of the famous carrier fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set in the highest level of equipment allows for both forms of the machine, whose canopies differ from each other. Besides the outer framing it also handles the inner side of the glass, the wheel hubs and other surfaces where cutting by hand would mean long hours of painstaking work.
The Vought Corsair came about around the massive Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp eighteen-cylinder radial and a huge propeller that had to be got high enough above the deck. Hence its unmistakable inverted gull wing. The F4U-1A version received a higher seat and better forward view, so it was finally suited to operating from aircraft carriers too. The following F4U-1D was a fighter-bomber with pylons for bombs and unguided rockets and with a smoothly blown canopy without framing.
On a framed canopy every pillar at this scale is a few tenths of a millimeter wide. A pre-die-cut piece seats exactly on its outline, so the frame comes out straight and the same width along its whole length. On the blown variant, the trouble with tape that twists on a doubly curved surface falls away.
The set serves as an accessory during a build; do not look for plastic parts of the machine in it.
