A figure item from the range of Dynamo-Models for 1:72 scale. The name gives the formation as well as the place and the year, so the subject belongs to the fighting in Normandy in 1944. It is not a kit but a figure accessory for a diorama or for a scene with a vehicle model.
The Fallschirmjäger were the German airborne troops of the Second World War; over the course of it their commitment shifted from air drops to ground fighting. They differed from ordinary infantry mainly in the cut of their equipment: the jump smock, a helmet type of their own and a different way of carrying their weapons. It is precisely these features that decide whether a figure in a scene reads as a paratrooper or as a line infantryman, and they carry over into the choice of colors and camouflage patterns as well.
In 1:72 scale it is the silhouette and a readable pose that count. Lay the figures out so that their gazes meet at one point of the scene, settle them dry and shim any gaps under the feet. Build the painting on three steps: a base tone, darker shading in the folds and a lighter touch on the edges. Suggest camouflage patterns in this scale with blotches alone; copying the pattern literally will rather spoil the result.
