A resin accessory set from the brand Black Dog in 1:72 scale, prepared for a model of the heavy tank destroyer Ferdinand. Sets of this type bring the loaded material and equipment that appeared on a vehicle and around it in the field - that is features with which a clean kit is turned into a vehicle with a story. It is not a kit of a vehicle but an accessory.
The Ferdinand, carried under the designation Sd.Kfz. 184, was a heavy tank destroyer built on the chassis of an unsuccessful prototype of a heavy tank from the Porsche company. It carried a long 8.8 cm gun with a high muzzle velocity in a fixed superstructure with no rotating turret, and it had exceptionally strong frontal armor. A peculiarity was the gasoline-electric drive: internal combustion engines drove generators and those supplied current to electric motors. The vehicle was heavy and not very mobile, but at long range very effective. It appeared in combat for the first time in 1943 and the series built was small; the later rebuilt form was designated the Elefant.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, as otherwise the paint will not hold on the remains of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, and do the sanding wet and with protection for your airways. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). First lay the load out dry and photograph it - in 1:72 scale it is good judgment rather than quantity that decides credibility. Paint separately before the final seating, so that you get into the recesses. A light filter and a dry brush on the edges will liven canvas and tarpaulins up, and a dark wash the metal parts. Apply dust and mud with pigments from the bottom up and only where they would really get.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
