A decal sheet from the Hungarian firm SBS Model with the markings of the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch liaison aircraft that served with the Finnish Air Force. The decals are intended for models in 1:72 scale and offer an interesting alternative to the usual German schemes, which are what the Storch most often comes with in kit boxes.
The Fi 156 Storch is among the best known liaison and observation aircraft of the Second World War. Thanks to fixed leading-edge slots, large flaps and long-travel landing gear it could take off and land on very short strips and fly extremely slowly. Finland used a small number of Storchs mainly for liaison and observation duties; the Finnish machines carried national insignia and camouflage to suit the northern theater.
Prepare the surface with a coat of gloss varnish so that no air is left under the decals. Separate the motifs with a sharp knife close along the printing, soak them briefly and move them onto the model with a damp brush. On areas with pronounced fabric texture a softener helps; a final matte coat will unify the look with the rest of the camouflage.
