A kit of the German Fieseler Fi 167 biplane in 1:72 scale, in a release aimed at the Balkans. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Fieseler Fi 167 was a German biplane with fixed landing gear, developed as a carrier torpedo and reconnaissance machine for an aircraft carrier that was never completed. Only a small production run was therefore built. The aircraft could take off and land on a very short run and descend almost vertically, a quality that carrier operation demanded and which makes it an unusual subject.
This release is themed around the Balkans; the particular marking options and the recommended shades are given in the manufacturer's instructions. The model is unassembled and unpainted. The key point of the build is the upper wing: it has to sit at the right height, on the right axis and at the right angle. The surest way is dry assembly and a simple support of card that holds the wing until the glue has set.
Paint the struts and the landing gear legs before assembly; a brush will barely reach them later. The cockpit is open and will be seen into, so it is worth giving it time. Rig the bracing between the wings right at the end, from fine thread or wire; it is precisely this that will decide the final impression. Before gluing, clear the mating surfaces of surplus material and traces of manufacture.
Paints, glue, filler and material for the bracing are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
