A model of the Renault FT light tank in 1:72 scale, which the manufacturer designates FT 17 Gas Tank. It belongs to the small scale in which a whole unit can be built without it taking up the entire display case.
The Renault FT is the machine with which the modern tank begins. It was the first to carry a fully rotating turret with a weapon and the layout with the driver at the front and the engine at the rear, that is the arrangement designers follow to this day. The crew was only two men: the driver and the commander, who also operated the weapon in the turret. At the rear a tail skid projected, thanks to which the tank could cross a trench that would otherwise have stopped it. Several thousand were built, they went to a number of armies, and some of them were still in service at the start of the Second World War, that is more than twenty years after they were created.
