Self-adhesive masks for the cockpit frames of the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 fighter in 1:72 scale. The film is prepared for the AZ Model kit and is applied to the outer side of the canopy.
Responsibility details are not available.
When the radial engine stopped being enough at high altitude, the well-known Focke-Wulf fighter received an inverted V12 Jumo 213. The nose was stretched by it, and to keep the balance the rear fuselage had to be lengthened as well by inserting a short section ahead of the tail surfaces. The result was a machine with quite a different silhouette, which pilots called the Dora or the long-nosed 190. It reached the units in the autumn of 1944 and ranked among the most capable German fighters of the end of the war, even though only a fraction of the numbers needed were delivered and experienced pilots were being lost faster than aircraft.
The bubble canopy of this version has only a few frames, but it is all the more striking on the model when they are of uneven thickness. Lay the segment on dry, check its position and only then press it down. On the arches stretch the film slightly so that no crease forms anywhere. It is advisable to spray a thin sealing coat first, under which any overlap will be hidden, and only then the camouflage shades. Remove the masks shortly after the last coat has become tacky.
The package holds masking film only. The kit, paints and any decals are obtained by the modeler separately, because this accessory deals exclusively with preparing the glazing before spraying, not with the build as such.
