An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Jagdpanzer IV tank destroyer in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the characteristic low and heavily sloped casemate superstructure on the chassis of the Panzer IV tank. The box holds light gray injection-molded plastic on several sprues together with full-length one-piece flexible tracks and illustrated instructions.
The Jagdpanzer IV was designed as a modern tank destroyer and as the intended successor to the StuG III assault gun. On the Panzer IV chassis it carried a low, closed casemate with well-sloped frontal armor and the 7.5 cm Pak 39 L/48 anti-tank gun. Its low silhouette and good armor made it a difficult target and an effective defensive weapon. The vehicle entered service in 1944 and was committed on both main fronts in the closing stage of the war.
Finish the running gear and the belly of the hull first, and only then fit the casemate superstructure. The sloped front comes out best once the edges are picked out with a dry brush. Spray the period three-tone camouflage in thin coats with an airbrush, give depth to the engraved lines with a dark wash and weather the running gear with dust pigments for mud effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
