An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Tiger II (King Tiger) heavy tank in the version with the early Porsche turret and the projected 105mm gun, in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. It is a what-if variant with hypothetical armament that was never used on this vehicle in production; it is popular above all thanks to computer games. The package contains plastic sprues, flexible tracks and normally a display base as well. The model is roughly 17 cm long.
The Tiger II, nicknamed the King Tiger, was a German heavy tank of the end of the Second World War with massive armor and a long 88 mm gun. Some of the early vehicles carried the rounded so-called Porsche turret. The version with a 105 mm gun stayed a project and never went into action, so it is a hypothetical change of armament. The real King Tigers were even so counted among the most powerful tanks of their day, though their weight and reliability held them back.
Build a tracked vehicle in subassemblies. Finish and paint the running gear and the flexible tracks before you close the hull. Join the plastic with thin modeling cement. Apply a primer before painting; late-war German camouflage in a three-color pattern suggests itself. Create the weathering with a dark wash, dust pigments on the running gear and a lift of the edges with a dry brush. The large gun calls for precise alignment.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
