Set of figures of German tankers in 1:72 scale, listed as the second part of a series covering the period 1939 to 1940.
Responsibility details are not available.
German tank crews moved in cramped space under armor and their dress matched that. The jacket tended to be short and smooth, without needless projections that would catch on the inside of the turret. The figures capture such men in ordinary situations around the vehicle, that is at moments when the crew is not tucked away inside.
These are figures in 1:72 scale, that is figures around two and a half centimeters tall. The number of pieces, the spread of poses and the exact identity of the individual figures are given in the manufacturer's description. The second part label places the set as a continuation of an earlier item of the same series, so it can be combined with figures from the previous part.
Figures of this scale are painted differently from large figures. A base shade, a darker shadow into the folds and a lighter cast on the raised areas are amply enough; overdone transitions on such a small area read as out of place. Wash and degrease the figures before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on the smooth surface, and finally unify the surface with a matte varnish. Check the color treatment of the uniforms against period references.
The set belongs with builders of dioramas and with modelers whose finished vehicle lacks a crew. Figures by the track, on the hull or in a hatch give a scene scale as well as a story, and a model turns into a scene at once. Paints, glue and the model of the vehicle are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
