A plastic kit of a German self-propelled gun carriage in 1:72 scale. The designation Geschützwagen was used for vehicles built as a gun carrier.
Responsibility details are not available.
During the Second World War the German designation Geschützwagen was borne by vehicles built as a gun carrier, that is self-propelled carriages using the chassis of a fighting vehicle. The lighter and less protected structure made it possible to take a substantially heavier barrel into the field than a rotating turret on the same chassis could have carried. Vehicles of this kind therefore served mainly to fire from prepared positions, not to fight in the front line.
The smaller scale is popular with military subjects mainly because of space: the finished vehicle takes up a few centimeters in a display case and is easily joined by further equipment, figures and a scene in the same scale. At the same time the small format makes higher demands on clean work, because every excess of glue or filler shows clearly on a small part.
First clear the parts of excess material and traces of manufacture, sand the mating surfaces and try the assembly dry. On small parts apply glue very sparingly. When painting it pays to lay down a continuous base tone first and only then the camouflage, because transitions that are too hard merge at this scale. A final highlighting of the edges and a fine layer of dust on the running gear will give the model depth in scale.
Paints, glue and filler are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
