A metal pitot tube from Master Model for Gloster Meteor models in 1:72 scale. It replaces the fragile plastic part.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet aircraft to reach operational service and the only Allied jet used in the Second World War. It kept its twin-engine layout with the nacelles on the wing throughout its career and many forms appeared in the postwar years: fighters, two-seat trainers, reconnaissance and night fighter versions. In 1:72 scale the length of the model works out at roughly nineteen centimeters.
A metal pitot tube, that is, the air pressure sensor from which the onboard instruments derive the airspeed. On the model it is one of the thinnest projecting parts and the plastic version bends or snaps before the model even reaches the display case. The metal part survives handling and is at the same time slimmer than an injection-molded part can be. The set is listed for the F.1, F.3, F.4, T.7, F.8, PR.10, NF.11 and NF.12 versions.
Cut the plastic part off, drill a hole in the space that is left to match the diameter of the metal part and bond the tube in with super glue. Wash and degrease the metal before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. It pays to fit the part right at the end of the build so that it is not in the way during sanding and spraying.
For modelers who build the Meteor in 1:72 scale and want the thinnest part of the aircraft in metal. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
