About product

What the sheet offers

This is a general sheet of characters, not the markings of one particular machine. According to the name it contains gray letters and numbers for British bombers of the early part of the war and with them red letters and numbers for serial numbers. You therefore assemble the markings character by character from the references you have and are not left with only two or three variants from a box with a kit. The breakdown of sizes and the counts of the individual characters are given by the manufacturer in the instructions.

How British markings are put together

British aircraft carried a combination of letters on the sides of the fuselage: a pair that belonged to the unit and a separate letter for the particular machine. Alongside that every aircraft had a serial number, carried out in smaller characters. The sheet covers both, so from it you will put together the complete markings of one machine, or add a character that did not come off from the original decals.

  • a decal sheet for 1:72 scale
  • gray code letters and numbers for British bombers of the early part of the war
  • red letters and numbers for serial numbers
  • a general set of characters for assembling your own combination
  • the counts and sizes of the characters are given by the manufacturer's instructions

How to apply the decals

First clear coat the base to a gloss, since on a matte layer silvery patches form under a decal. Cut the character out close to the artwork, immerse it for a few seconds in lukewarm water and let it rest until it lets go of the paper; then slide it onto the model. Draw the excess water off; softener will support the seating into irregularities. Apply the characters one by one and set the spacing out with lightly stuck tape, so that the line does not drift and the letters sit at the same height. Once dry, go over the whole model with a final clear coat.

Terms of supply

The sheet alone is supplied. The model, paints, clear coat, softener and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

According to the name, gray code letters and numbers for British bombers of the early part of the war and red letters and numbers for serial numbers. The exact counts and sizes are given by the manufacturer's instructions.

It is not. This is a general set of characters from which you put the markings together yourself according to the references for the machine you are building.

As wet decals. Cut the character out, soak it in lukewarm water, let it let go of the paper and slide it onto a glossy clear coated base. Softener will support the seating.

Apply the characters one by one and set the spacing out with lightly stuck tape. Without a guide the line drifts and the letters end up at different heights.
