Pre-cut masks in kabuki paper intended for the model of the E-2C Hawkeye carrier-borne airborne early warning aircraft. In 1:72 scale the width of a cockpit frame is often under half a millimeter. A hand-cut strip of tape can hardly reach that accuracy, and every deviation shows more on a small model than on a large one. A machine-cut mask holds the same width along the whole length of a frame, which is the main reason it pays off in small scales even more than in large ones.
Lift the masks from the sheet with a damped scalpel tip or with fine-jawed tweezers, and touch them with your fingers as little as possible. Once a mask is seated, run a blunt tip around the whole perimeter. The commonest mistake is spraying too heavily, when the paint builds up at the edge of the mask and peels off with it as it is lifted. Spray in several light passes instead. The second common mistake is lifting the masks only after days of drying, when the film is hard and tears. Ideally lift the masks within a few hours of spraying.
The set is an accessory for painting a model. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
