About product

Eduard 1:72 He 111H-6 - color photo-etching (Zoom)

This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard holds color, pre-printed photo-etched parts for a model of the Heinkel He 111H-6 bomber in 1:72 scale. It belongs to the Zoom range - smaller sets that concentrate on the most visible parts of the cockpit, that is instrument panels with dials and seat belts. The manufacturer intends it for the He 111H-6 kit in 1:72 scale from Hasegawa. It is not an airplane model - the kit is not included in the package.

What photo-etched parts are and why to use them

Photo-etching is a thin metal fret with chemically etched parts. The metal is an order of magnitude thinner than injected plastic and can therefore render detail that plastic, because of its thickness, never manages: instrument panels with legible scales, belts with buckles, grilles, handles and levers. The set is in color, so the printed parts do not have to be painted - they are simply cut off, bent where needed and glued on. In the small 1:72 scale this is the quickest route to a convincing interior.

The real subject

The Heinkel He 111 was a German twin-engine bomber, one of the main types of the Luftwaffe in the Second World War. It was in action from the Battle of Britain to the final fighting. It is unmistakable thanks to its fully glazed nose, in which the crew sat almost without frames or bracing. The H-6 version was among the most widespread. It is precisely the glazed nose that makes it worth investing in the interior of an He 111 model: practically everything can be seen through it.

Use and fitting

  • Cut the parts from the fret with a sharp scalpel or photo-etch shears on a hard surface.
  • Make the bends with a photo-etch bender or with tweezers over a sharp edge - the metal bends, it does not break.
  • Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate); plastic cement does not hold on metal.
  • The color (printed) parts are not painted - protect them from glue and from sandpaper.
  • Finish and glue in the interior before you close the fuselage and fit the glazed nose.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the He 111H-6 in 1:72 scale and do not want bare plastic behind the glazed nose. Given the small scale this is fine work that calls for good light, tweezers and a steady hand, but the result is the most visible part of the whole model.

This is not a kit. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package. Photo-etched parts have sharp edges - work carefully, use super glue in a well-ventilated area and protect your eyes.

FAQ

It is not. It is a photo-etched accessory set for improving a model. The He 111H-6 kit in 1:72 scale has to be bought separately.

No, the set is in color (pre-printed). The printed instrument panels and belts are not painted; it is enough to cut them off and glue them on.

The manufacturer intends it for the He 111H-6 kit in 1:72 scale from Hasegawa. With other kits an exact fit of the parts is not guaranteed.

Super glue (cyanoacrylate). Plastic cement does not work on metal, because it has nothing to bite into.
