A colored base for a model made of an acrylic plate 3 mm thick with the motif of the forward aircraft lift of the British aircraft carrier HMS Victorious, size 280 x 180 mm.
Responsibility details are not available.
HMS Victorious was a British aircraft carrier that served from the Second World War and went through an extensive rebuild in the 1950s. The aircraft lift connected the flight deck with the hangar below it and whole machines were lowered on it, so its outline, its framing and its walking surfaces are among the most prominent places of the deck. The base captures the area of the forward lift as it was in the 1960s.
A plate of acrylic 3 mm thick, measuring 280 x 180 mm and weighing 170 g, with a colored print. The drawing is in 1:72 scale; the surface of the plate corresponds to roughly twenty by thirteen meters of real deck. The model therefore stands on a section of it, and that is exactly the point: the framing is as tight as it is in a period photograph. The 3 mm thickness keeps the plate flat even under a heavier model.
Nothing is assembled or painted over. You simply stand a finished model on the plate, or fix it with double-sided tape so that it does not shift when carried. The surface is sensitive to scratches, so put the base down on something soft and wipe it with a soft dry cloth. Solvents, spirits and nail polish remover do not belong on acrylic, as they would cloud the surface. In a display case the plate also pays off where several models from the same setting stand together and are meant to read as a whole.
For modelers of carrier aircraft in 1:72 scale who want to display finished work on a matching setting, and for those who photograph models. The model, the figures and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
