An injection-molded plastic kit of the Hotchkiss H-35 light tank in 1:72 from the Polish brand First to Fight. The brand builds its range on series of small models of 1930s and 1940s equipment in a uniform size, so they go well together in group display cases and in dioramas. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The number of parts and the contents of the decal sheet are given on the packaging of the kit.
The Hotchkiss H-35 was a French light tank designed in the 1930s. Both the hull and the turret were made up of cast segments, which at a time when riveted construction prevailed was out of the ordinary. The crew consisted of two men, with the commander also serving the armament in a turret not sized for two, which in practice was the machine's main weakness. The main weapon was a short 37 mm gun complemented by a machine gun. The vehicle was short, with a high-set superstructure and running gear with several pairs of small wheels. The early form differed from the later machines of the same family in its engine and in the shape of the rear of the hull.
With vehicles in 1:72 it pays to assemble and paint the running gear before the side covers are glued on, otherwise you cannot reach it later. Glue with thin cement for plastic and use only a minimum of it, as small parts dissolve easily. Apply an undercoat before painting. The cast surface of the hull can be suggested by lightly tapping with a textured sponge or by very fine sanding. After the main color, use a dark wash into the recesses and a dry brush on the edges. Apply mud and dust effects on the running gear with pigments at the very end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
