This add-on set from the Japanese manufacturer FineMolds holds photo-etched parts for sharpening up a model of the Mitsubishi A7M Reppu fighter, Allied code name Sam, in 1:72 scale. It supplies the fine elements that injection-molded plastic cannot capture in a matching thickness. The set is not an aircraft model in itself; it is an accessory.
The Mitsubishi A7M Reppu was a Japanese carrier-based fighter of the late Second World War, intended as the successor to the famous A6M Zero. Only prototypes and a small number of production machines were completed and it practically never reached combat, yet it is among the interesting development types of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service.
The photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp knife on a firm surface and bonded as a rule with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Make the bends along the score line, ideally in a bending tool. Degrease the parts before painting. The set raises the realism particularly around the cockpit and the fine surface elements.
This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a kit. The plastic model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
