Infanterie Russe is a set of plastic figures of Russian, or rather Soviet, infantry in 1:72 scale from the French brand Heller. It serves to complete dioramas and scenes with equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds plastic figures of infantry in the small scale of 1:72. It is not a kit of equipment, but an accessory used to populate dioramas, to man vehicles with crews and to complete both air and land scenes. Heller lists this item in a range to which sets of the infantry of further countries also belong; according to the make-up of that range this is infantry from the period of the Second World War.
The figures depict foot soldiers in field gear. In 1:72 scale an adult figure measures roughly 24 to 25 millimeters, so the set suits equipment of the same size and models of aircraft in this scale. Sets of this type usually offer several different poses which are repeated within the package; it is therefore worth checking the exact make-up against the illustration on the box. The set is a modeling accessory depicting the period uniform and field gear.
Figures in 1:72 scale tend to be cast from a softer polystyrene on which ordinary cement for hard plastic may not act reliably; try the joint on a spare part first, or reach for super glue. Trim the parting gaps with a sharp scalpel; thin parts such as the barrels of weapons break easily, so handle them carefully. Wash the figures before painting and apply a thin base coat, otherwise the paint will hold poorly on the smooth surface. Paint with a size 000 to 0 brush: the base shades, then a dark wash, which will bring out the folds and the gear by itself, and finally a light dry brush on the edges and on the faces. Details such as belts and buckles need only be suggested; in this scale the overall impression and the contrast decide rather than fineness.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
