This set of 3D-printed figures of Italian soldiers from the Polish brand IBG models is meant to bring finished models and dioramas to life. It is not a kit of a vehicle but an accessory: two figures in uniforms used in the North African theater, which give a scene scale as well as a story. A figure beside a vehicle is the quickest way of showing a viewer how large a model actually is.
The Italian army fought in North Africa from 1940 and its equipment adapted to the setting gradually. Alongside the classic gray-green uniform came canvas blouses and trousers in sand tones, tropical helmets, goggles against the sand and light footwear. It is precisely this variety that makes Italian soldiers a rewarding subject: one scene will take several shades of khaki and striking accessories without looking incoherent.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, remove the print supports with a sharp scalpel and glue any joints with super glue. The base is a thin layer of primer-filler, followed by the base tones of the uniform and the skin. In 1:72 scale contrast decides the result: a dark wash into the folds and a light dry brush on the edges will do more than the most careful painting of detail. The figures are supplied unpainted.
